Sunflower Galaxy

Sunflower Galaxy (Messier 63, M63 or NGC 5055) is a spiral galaxy located in the Canes Venatici Constellation. It is about 25 million light years away from us. It is approximately 100,000 light years in diameter which is very similar to the size of our own Milky Way Galaxy. It has a bright yellowish core and the blue spiral arms. The galaxy also has some pink regions where there is massive star formation. There are evidences suggesting that it is interacting with some of the closer galaxies such as the Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) and the some smaller galaxies.
